As for me, this news is currently going all around blogs and social networks on the web because Nigerians hate NYSC so much. People die everyday, most of which don't even get to make it to the news BUT whenever the talk is all about the NYSC, everybody makes noise. The Govt needs to look into this NYSC of a thing and just free Nigerian youths off it.
At least 18 fresh graduates of Imo State University, Southeast Nigeria, have all died in a road accident. They were said to be travelling to Taraba State, Northeast Nigeria when the incident happened. The corps members are said to be for Batch A, NYSC orientation camps.
The corps members are said to be for Batch A, NYSC orientation camps. Apparently, these students who got their call-up letters very late yesterday from IMSU, (in a bid to meet up) chartered a small bus not very conversant with that long, bad road for a night trip in order to meet registration deadline

Comment by Danladi on March 23, 2012 at 8:35am This is common sense. If a driver is chartered to ply a route he wasn't conversant with does he need to be told to take it easy especially when he is travelling at night? The fact is that if people die as a result of bad road it means we are not prepared for a good road yet. I shear the pains of the family members of all involved but our drivers should please note that those who go fast are those who go slow.

Comment by UJAM AARON OKEHCUHWU on March 10, 2012 at 9:32am Anyone who wishes another dead should know that his/her own life is not forever. What a great loss to train someone for years in the University and when it is time to reap, you start burial. God forbid. Something fast should be done to forestall this incessant death of Corpers.

Comment by Godwille Eneh Peters on March 10, 2012 at 4:22am Dont stop NYSC. Make NYSC be what it is supposed to be. THE ADMINISTRATORS OF THIS PROJECT MUST STOP USING THIS PROGRAME TO ENRICH THEMSELVES. This fresh graduates should be accorded the ambasadorial status at what ever level. It is funny that the government use them and kill them or dump them if they can not kill them. THE GOVERNMENT AND ALL CONCERNED MUST STOP USING THIS PROGRAME TO ENRICH THEMSELVES AND MUST TREAT THESE NEW GROUP OF DEVELOPING CITIZENS AS STEPPING STONE FOR RICHES. Every one concerned know what I mean. Politics use them and dump or kill them. All over the areas where these new Nigerian are deployed to do National assignments, they suffer. Remember, these NYSC boys and girls are supposed to be paramilitary men and women with special aim and target = TO SERVE THEIR FATHER LAND, UNITE AND DEFEND THE COUNTRY. For now I stop here.
