PDP Wants Fashola To Resign Because Of Lagos Flood, Are They Not Wrong

Picture: Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola Of Lagos State :::

"The Lagos state chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded for the "immediate resignation" of the governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola over the flooding of most parts of the state on Sunday.

The party also demanded an unreserved apology from the governor and the payment of adequate compensation to the families of those who lost their lives and property in the flood. The party's publicity secretary in Lagos State, Taofik Gani, made this known in a statement on Wednesday, where it sympathised with residents affected by the two-days heavy downpour. PDP described the disaster as "an avoidable trauma," insisting that the state government could have done more to prevent the flooding.

"Contrary to the claim by the state government that Lagosians dump refuse and build on the drainage, the actual cause of the flooding is lack of proper drainage. It is uncomplimentary for the state government to accuse Lagos residents for its own negligence, dereliction of duty and maladministration," the statement read.

According to the party, the state government had over the years failed to clear primary drainage in the state which resulted in last Sunday's floods. It also alleged that the blocking of waterways by construction companies also contributed to the flooding.

More blame

Blaming the government for the ongoing Eko Atlantic project, the PDP claimed that the unnecessary sand filling of lagoons, seas and the ocean by the state government also raised the water level of the ocean.

The statement further lamented the frequent collapse of buildings and loss of lives in Lagos State as it blamed the continued collapse of buildings in the state on the inability of the state to punish government officials involved in the monitoring of building construction.

The PDP then called on the state government to provide affordable housing for the people as a way of making substandard buildings unattractive."

It is unfortunate for experiencing such flood in Lagos, but that is not enough for demanding the State Governor to resign. i believe that by now the Governor might have find a way of averting the said dreaded flood. So instead of telling him on way forward, some political opponents only want him to  resign, which is not encouraging at all.

If only we tour other states, I am sure that we will give his Excellency kudos. As for the engineer turned writers. All of you are one and same. Some of you who will look at faces before you say the truth. And if the face not actualy old but seam so, I bet you, that you will change your song instantly.

No one should give character evidence of himself in this forum else we will be forced to exhume contrary records.

Good critics end their's with advice or probable solution.

Failures always have excuses or reasons but not answers or solutions.

The problem with PDP especially in Lagos state is busy. You may as well as the writer what was good about PDP.Its not a subject of discussion as far as i am concerned. At this point we should think what we can do for the government rather always what government is suppose to do for us.Its time we start helping ourselves first before crying foul.

in spite of the politics talk, let remind our self that some time we should not deviate from the truth, the fact remains i love fashola as a person not because of AC, but the contractor that they are using for the drinage work are there party people. that is why in ori ade that all the road are bad, there chairman have the gods to put his picture that he is doing well what a mess. i want to call on his excellency babatunde raji fashola (SAN) that he should give his jobs to reputable company that we bring proud to his work even me as an engineer i can not approve most of the nonsense work  that they are doing in Lagos environ, if our able governor really want to achieve his goal he should removed sentiment of party and give the jobs to appropriate people thanks
